Kazakhstan’s General Scheme of Gasification draft will be developed by spring 2021. The second and third stages of a project “Saryarka
” will contribute to this. The information was announced on November 24 at a meeting of the Kazakh Government.
“As per results of this year, the gasification rate of the population in Kazakhstan is planned at 53 %, 9.8 million people will have access to natural gas. The gasification level will reach 60 % in 2025 with the connection of 2,120 settlements or 11.7 million inhabitants,” said Prime Minister Askar Mamin
The Head of the Government tasked the Energy Ministry, together with interested state bodies and organizations, to develop an updated draft of the general gasification scheme of Kazakhstan by April 1, 2021.
In 2025, gasification level will reach 60% with the connection of 2,120 settlements or 11.7 million inhabitants. This will be facilitated by the implementation of stages 2 and 3 of the Saryarka project, gasification of East Kazakhstan, also expansion and reconstruction of regional networks.
The issue of attracting gas from Russia to the region is currently under consideration. Primarily, this is due to the increase in the number of consumers. By the end of the year, this figure in the country is expected grow up to 16.5 billion cubic meters.
This year, gas consumption in Kazakhstan
is expected to grow to 16.5 bcm (consumption in 2019 was 16.3 bcm). First of all, this is due to an increase in the number of consumers, where 50% of gas is used for electricity generation, the utilities sector - 36%, and industry - 14%.
