LNG Cutoff Should Have Little Effect

Trinidad halted LNG exports on Tuesday due to a workers stike. According to industry experts the strike in the country, which is a top supplier to the US, should have little effect on U.S. gas prices as the winter heating season winds down.

"LNG is a small portion of the supply mix and shouldn't be a serious issue. We shouldn't see an immediate impact on physical availability," according to Marshall Steeves, an energy analyst at Refco LLC in New York.

As milder spring weather approaches, gas traders agreed the loss in supply from the strike should not affect prices, unless the strike is prolonged.
