Sakhalin LNG to flow for at least a quarter century...
The Sakhalin Energy Company has concluded an agreement with the company Toho Gas, one of Japan's largest gas distribution companies, to provide it with liquefied gas, according to a statement from the press office of Sakhalin Gas.
According to the signed document, the volume of gas to be delivered amounts to 0.3 million tons a year for approximately the next 23 years. In this way, the total volume of gas previously purchased within the context of the Sakhalin II project (concluded in four agreements) now totals 3.1 million tons for the next 20 or more years.
According to the announcement, the deal further establishes Sakhalin as a new strategic provider of natural gas to Japan, and allows the Asia Pacific region to be considered as a major new market for Russian energy providers. The deal also confirms the emergence on the international gas market of a major new participant in the form of the Russian Federation and the company Sakhalin Energy.
