The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will be exploited by Russian oil providers in the near future for supplies of crude oil passing to the Turkish Gulf in the Black Sea, according to the head of the Department for Marketing Management and Economic Operations for the Azeri State Oil Company (GNKAR).
To do so, the Azeri party is ready to reverse another pipeline branch, the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline. In this case Russian exporters will then be able to realize supplies of 5-12 million tons of oil to Baku, from where it will be supplied to the port of Ceyhan in the Mediterranean Sea .
Such a route should be very profitable, especially in an autumn-winter period when, due to a bad weather, some problems occurred last year both in the port of Novorossiysk and the Turkish straits of Bosfor and Dardanelles .
