New Rules To Govern LNG Plants
The new rules are concerned with safety and environmental issues
The government of Texas, US, called Wednesday for new rules to govern liquefied natural gas plants, the number of which is constantly growing.
The new rules are concerned with safety and environmental issues. These initiatives will reassure the citizens of Texas that the proper safety and environmental regulations are in place, Charles Matthews, Texas Railroad Commissioner, told the House Committee on Energy Resources. The railroad commission regulates oil and gas production in Texas.
There are at least seven LNG terminals proposed for the Texas coast and negotiations are under way on safety and environmental concerns. Currently, Texas has no rules to regulate the new industry that converts imported LNG to natural gas for use in Texas and around the nation.
