Today Iran and Norway signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a mutual oil and gas cooperation between the two states.
This Memorandum is the second of its kind, signed between Iran and Norway over the period of two years. Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, talking about negotiations with Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Enra Steensnaes, described them as "fruitful and constructive."
The purpose of this MoU is to urge Norwegian oil companies to cooperate with the Iranian oil sector.
For instance, Statoil, Norwegian oil corporation has been participating in Iran's oil and gas exploration and research projects in recent years.
