Wednesday, Aug. 4 ? China National Offshore Oil Corp. announced it has discovered oil at the exploration well JZ21-1S-1 in Bohai Bay. It is considered a medium-sized discovery according to industry standards.
The JZ21-1S-1 well, located on the JZ21-1 south structure in Liaozhong Sag, was drilled to a depth of 2,400 meters, the company said.
The well flowed about 700 and 500 barrels of oil equivalent a day at 7.94 and 7.14 millimeter chokes, respectively.
CNOOC is the operator of the well and owns a 100% stake in the discovery.
