The governments of Brazil and Russia on Monday signed cooperation agreements in the oil, natural gas, power and renewable energy sectors.
Under the agreement, particularly, Russia's gas giant Gazprom will build a natural gas liquefaction plant in Brazil, according to official Brazilian government.
Brazil is interested in getting to know Russian gas technology to develop its nascent natural gas market which is expected to see gas demand rise to 100 million cubic meters a day by the end of the decade from some 38mcm/d at present.
Gazprom and the Brazilian mines and energy ministry also agreed to hold a meeting in Russia in the first half 2005 to discuss gas regulations, exploration, transport and liquefaction processes, the ministry said in a statement Sunday.
Gazprom is also interested in investing in Brazil's market.
