Nigeria, Chevron Texaco, BG To Biuld LNG Plant

The Nigerian government is planning another ambitious gas project, to build liquefied natural gas plant of $6 bln worth, in the southwestern state of Ondo, with the help of ChevronTexaco and British Gas West Africa Ltd.

The plant is supposed to start production by 2008, the report said.
Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. CEO, Funso Kupolokun, presenting the project, described it as the "biggest, single project ever witnessed in the country's petroleum sector.?.

According to Kupolokun, the project, which would supply 30 million metric tons of gas annually, would be executed in phases, with the first phase involving the production of 10 million metrictons of gas per annum by 2008.
