BP Output Rose

British Petroleum said first-quarter oil and gas output rose 1.9 per cent due to increasing Russian supplies.

Production averaged 4.09 million barrels a day, compared to 4.02 million a day a year earlier, the London-based company said in a preliminary assessment of the period, released yesterday on the Regulatory News Service. For 2004, output averaged almost 4 million barrels a day, a gain of 10 per cent.

BP yesterday said oil and gas production for 2005 will be in the range of 4.1 million to 4.2 million barrels a day, in line with a forecast made in February.
