Brazil's state-owned oil company Petrobras signed a deal with the Chinese Export-Import Bank to finance a $1.2 billion natural gas pipeline construction.
The pipeline is supposed to link Brazil's northern natural gas fields to the country's industrialized south.
Officials originally said it would cost $1 billion, but Petrobras president Jose Eduardo Dutra gave the higher figure following a meeting in Rio de Janeiro of executives from 22 state-owned oil companies from around the world.
