Georgia has bought 30 million cubic meters of gas from Iran.
According to Iran?s Deputy Petroleum Minister Mohammad Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian told IRNA agency that Tbilisi will receive 30 million cubic meters of gas over a 30-day period, having paid $7 million. This means that Iranian gas will cost Georgia $230 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Earlier Georgia did not agree to pay a price of $110 per 1,000 cubic meters that was offered by Russian gas monopoly Gazprom.
Georgian authorities expressed doubts that the new price was fair and economically grounded.
Tbilisi decided to import gas from Iran after gas deliveries from Russia were halted on Jan. 22 due to explosions on the Russian gas pipeline that was used to deliver fuel to Georgia.
