Uzbek Gas Production On Rise

Uzbekistan produced 59.68 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2005, 0.3 percent down from 2004, the state statistics agency said on Monday.

The country has an estimated reserve of 6.25 trillion cubic meters, which is enough to supply the world for more than two years, but its current annual output is only able to meet domestic demand.

Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom signed two deals with Uzbek government on Wednesday to develop gas fields worth around 1.5 billion dollars in the Central Asian state in a bid to increase fuel exports to global markets.
