Royal Dutch Shell opened its second fuel outlet in Indonesia on Wednesday, after the government ended the monopoly of state-run oil firm Pertamina in fuel retail sales.
Located in South Jakarta, Shell's second outlet sells only high-octane fuel products with prices ranging from 5,300 rupiah (around 53 US cents) per liter to 5,500 rupiah (59 cents).
"The market is still limited, so we limit our products below 15 million kiloliters," Shell Indonesia vice president Wally Saleh told reporters here.
The first Shell outlet opened last November in the Jakarta suburb of Tangerang.
The company has announced a plan to build around 400 fuel outlets across Indonesia.
The government previously limited the retail presence of foreign companies to lubricant oil.
Besides Shell, Malaysia's Petronas also has opened its outlet near Jakarta and planned to build hundreds more.
