In addition to the development of new technologies, this agreement calls for standardizing and automating workflow
Norway's state-run oil group Statoil ASA and Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) signed a three-year agreement to develop new production optimization technologies to extend the life of oil and gas fields.
In addition to the development of new technologies, this agreement calls for standardizing and automating workflow processes with the ultimate goal of increasing oil recovery and accelerating production. This involves the identification of best practices and information management processes for the complete producing asset, including the processing facilities. The agreement is valued at $16 million USD.
Statoil will identify and execute pilots on the Norwegian continental shelf where new technologies will be tested and deployed. "We are striving to improve utilization of reservoir, well and processing capacity," said Utseth.
The fields chosen for field tests will include fields with smart wells, a high percentage of instrumented wells and a high-quality communication infrastructure.
"This collaborative project will accelerate the development of new production technologies to improve decision-making from front-end engineering to automated operations-and deliver practical solutions towards the realization of the digital oil field," said Olivier Le Peuch, president, SIS.
