Bolivia's state-run YPFB energy firm was made the nation's exclusive wholesale fuel distributor, replacing seven companies that had managed this service since 2001.
Among the private firms that were forced out of the fuel-distribution market were subsidiaries of Petrobras and Anglo-Dutch Shell.
YPFB stands to increase annual earnings by between $6 million and $8 million by taking over these activities, company president Jorge Alvarado said Saturday, adding that YPFB would also be responsible for importing diesel fuel, another activity that had been in the hands of private firms.
