Oil prices rose slightly Tuesday morning while traders watched the effects of an oil pipeline leak in western Russia and the continued violence in the Middle East.
New York's light sweet crude for September delivery added 10 cents to $74.50 in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
On Monday, natural gas futures surged 14 percent to a near six-month high of $8.211 per 1,000 cubic feet, rallying on strong demand from power producers amid scorching temperatures across much of the United States. In Tuesday trading, the September contract rose 3.9 cents to $8.250.
