US Gas Price Jumped
The price jump comes as demand for heating oil picks up
U.S. drivers are paying the lowest price so far this year for gasoline, with the latest pump cost falling 1.8 cents over the last week to an average $2.21 a gallon, the government said Monday.
The national price for regular unleaded gasoline has declined for a record 11 weeks in a row and is 40 cents lower from a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration's weekly survey of 800 service stations. The much larger Lundberg survey of about 6,000 stations said the average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline fell 7.8 cents in the last two weeks to $2.20 a gallon.
The price jump comes as demand for heating oil picks up. Diesel and heating oil are both part of so-called middle distillate fuels produced at refineries
