PITA Gas Pipeline Agreement

Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan signed a 7.6 billion dollars Gas Pipeline Framework Agreement Thursday for supplying 3.2 billion cubec feet of gas daily from Turkmenistan

The agreement was signed from Pakistanis side by Minister for Petroleum Khawaja Muhammad Asif with Minister for Oil and Gas Industry Dr. Baymurad Hojamuhamedov, Afghanistan Minister for Mines Muhammad Ibrahim Adel, and Indian Petroleum Minister Shri Murli Deora.

The project will cost 7.6 billion dollars and will supply 3.2 billion cubec feet of gas per day while construction work on the project will start in 2010 and gas supply will begin in 2015. All the four countries are strongly committed to the finalization of this project, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Khawaja Muhammad Asif told a joint news conference after the after signing the agreement.
