Russia’s trade surplus from January to April 2008 increased 1.7-fold on the year to $67.5 billion, the Russian Economy Ministry said in its report for January-April 2008.
Foreign trade turnover totaled $236.1 billion in the first four months of 2008, up 49.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Exports from Russia grew by half from January to April, to $151.8 billion. The percentage of exports to the CIS countries dropped from 15.3 to 14.5 percent, while the percentage of exports to other countries rose from 84.7 to 85.5 percent. Exports to the CIS grew 145.5 percent, while exports to other countries climbed 154.8 percent.

Imports to Russia were up 41.7 percent from January to April, reaching $84.3 billion. Imports to the CIS countries decreased from 15.3 to 13.5 percent, while imports to other countries edged up from 84.7 to 86.5 percent.
