On June 1, the price of kerosene at Moscow airports will rise 13 percent to 36,140 rubles (almost Euro 1000) per ton. The cause of the price increase is higher prices charged at the refineries, which are raising prices in Russia to world levels. It is the fourth price rise in a year and brings the price rise since the beginning of the year to 36 percent. The last price increase, on May 5, was 12.3 percent.
Experts expect the price of airplane fuel to continue to rise both in Russia and around the world. The June 1 increase in railway freight transportation charges of 8 percent will also be felt in fuel prices. Independent fuel suppliers will be hardest hit. One supplier noted that airlines are buying less reserve fuel because of the high prices and paying for their fuel less regularly.
