Repsol YPF SA, a Spanish oil company, is in ``advanced negotiations'' to buy a ``significant'' stake in Russia's Sakhalin Island oil and gas reserves.
While Brufau wouldn't provide any details, unidentified industry people said the deal involves a 25 percent stake in Sakhalin III, a block in Russia's far east, according to the FT. The block has estimated reserves of about 1.2 billion barrels of oil and 9.1 trillion cubic feet of gas, the FT said.
