Managing director of National Islamic Republic Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIRIGEC) said in Ashgabat that the base price for Turkmenistan’s natural gas for export to Iran would be declared soon, in early January, 2009.
Seyed Reza Kasaiezadeh added, “Currently the two countries have reached an agreement over the general formula for calculation of Turkmenistan’s natural gas for export to Iran.”
The NIRIGEC managing director meanwhile pointed out that Turkmenistan would increase the volume of its natural gas exports to Iran this winter.
He said that the present volume of Turkmenistan’s natural gas exports to our country is 26 million cubic meters per day, adding, “That amount would increase to 30 million cubic meters this winter.”
Kasaiezadeh also mentioned, “Phases 7, 9 and ten of the South Pars Gas Field would begin production this winter, after which our country would face no shortcoming for provision of the required natural gas for the cold season.”
