Canada To Support Arctic Pipeline

It was announced by Canadian Environment Minister Jim Prentice on Monday.

Prentice said Ottawa has made a financial offer to the five-member consortium backing construction of the natural-gas pipeline from the Mackenzie River Delta, north of the Arctic Circle, to Alberta. The offer includes contributing to infrastructure costs and sharing risks and returns. Prentice did not say if it includes a stake in the line.

The consortium looking to build the line is led by Imperial Oil Ltd. Its partners are Royal Dutch Shell Plc , Exxon Mobil Corp, ConocoPhillips and the Aboriginal Pipeline Group.
