Kazakhstan Expects Oil Production Cut in 2009

Kazakhstan may reduce oil production in 2009 by 4% to 76 million tons, the Kazakh minister of economy and budget planning said on Tuesday

"The official forecast is still 79 million tons for 2009 but our forecasts include the possibility of a cut of 3 million tons," Bakyt Sultanov told journalists.

The cuts might be introduced in case of oil prices slump below $40 per barrel.

Oil prices fell below $35 a barrel in New York on Monday, so the cuts are nothing unreal.
