5th Gas Find in Egypt by Dana Gas
A significant gas discovery has been made in the Egyptian Nile Delta by Sharjah-based Dana Gas
The discovery follows a dry gas discovery at the West Manzala-2 well and three gas and condensate discoveries at the El Basant-1, El-Basant-2 and Salma-1 wells, since 2008.
The Azhar-1 would add up to 100bn cubic feet, the equivalent of 16m barrels of oil, to the Dana Gas's reserves in Egypt when production starts in mid-2009, the company, which is the region’s largest private sector natural gas firm.
The development plan for the discovery was current being prepared, said Egypt country director Hany Elsharkawi.
