Speaking to Belarussian oil industry executives at the Mozyr refinery on 3 May, Belarussian Prime Minister Sergey Sidorskiy said the country's refineries needed to be modernized very quickly. Sidorskiy said the main units at Mozyr which will enable to facility to achieve 92 percent refining depth should be launched by the end of the current year. He stressed that the end goal in modernizing Belarussian refineries is to be able to produce products that will be competitive on world markets.
He noted that the Mozyr refinery would launch a gasoline desulphurization unit in May making it possible for the facility to produce Euro-5 compliant gasoline. He added that after a diesel hydrotreatment unit is launched at the end of the year, diesel fuel will be competitive on the European market.
