31 August 2012—San Leon Energy said yesterday that it found conventional oil in the Southern Permian basin in southwest Poland.
The area is a field that was abandoned in the 1960s by the state-owned Polish Petroleum and Gas Mining (PGNiG), Dow Jones Newswires reported.
The Lelechow-SL1 is the first well in a two-well exploration program in the company’s 100%-owned Nowa Sol concession, which targets the Zechstein Main Dolomite geological trend. The well was drilled to a total vertical depth of 1167 m.
The next well to be drilled in the concession will be the Czaslaw-SL1.
