Data from a new 3D seismic survey offshore Lebanon will be available to interested clients before the Lebanese licensing round next year.
There has been significant interest in exploring the deepwater of the Levantine Basin since the discovery of giant gas fields in the eastern Mediterranean, the company said.
The survey will be in the southwest exclusive economic zone and is scheduled to be finished by the end of this month. A fast-track data volume processed onboard the acquisition vessel will be available to clients in November. The final data product will be available early next year, when the Lebanese government’s inaugural licensing round will open.
The project will be carried out in cooperation with Dolphin Geophysical and will acquire at least 1500 km² of dual source data using 12 streamers. The survey is the first phase of a seismic project that will eventually incorporate up to 3000 km². The study area is ranked as having “high prospectivity” as defined by Beicip Franlab, the company said.
