Rome, May 10 - Neftegaz.RU. Rosneft jointly with partners (Eni, Project Operator, and BP) and the Egyptian oil and gas companies started up the third production unit of the Zohr project, increasing its maximum throughput capacity to 1.2 bln standard cubic feet per day.
The 3rd phase was put in operation only 2 weeks after the commissioning of the 2nd phase (which doubled the capacity to 800 mln cubic feet per day) and 5 months after the start of production in Zohr field. The maximum production capacity of the field is expected to reach 2 bln cubic feet per day by the end of 2018. The plateau production of 2.7 bln cubic feet per day is to be achieved by the end of 2019.
«This outstanding result has been achieved only a few months after the field’s start-up in December 2017,» Eni said.
The Zohr field, the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea with more than 30 tcf of gas in place, is located within the offshore Shorouk Block (some 190 km north of Port Said). In the Shorouk Block, Eni holds a 60% stake, Rosneft 30% and BP 10% of the Contractor’s Share.
The project is executed by Petrobel, the Operating Company jointly held by Eni and the state corporation Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), on behalf of Petroshorouk, jointly held by Contractor (Eni and its partners) and the state company EGAS.
