Kawasaki Heavy Industries will build Japan’s first LNG bunkering vessel for a joint venture between K-Line, Chubu Electric Power, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and NYK Line.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries reported this on July 11, 2018.

The joint venture, called Central LNG Shipping Japan Corp. (CLS), placed the order for the vessel at Kawasaki Heavy Industries on Friday.

The vessel will measure 81.7 meters and have LNG capacity of 3,500 cubic meters of gas.

Delivery is expected towards the end of 2020, at which point it will be the first LNG bunkering vessel operating in Japan.

The vessel will fuel LNG-powered in the Chubu (central) region of Japan
