The works were performed by specialists of VdMU branch office in Bangladesh.
The generator stator is the main element of turbine unit electrical equipment, which is designed for conversion of mechanical power received from the turbine to the electric power.
Alexey Deriy, Vice President of ASE - Project Director for Rooppur NPP Construction, said:
- The generator stator is the heaviest element of the power unit equipment with the total weight exceeding 440 tons
- Completion of its installation in the design position allows us to proceed with full-scale works on installation of the turbine hall main equipment
The advantages of this type of turbine generators are fire safety, enhanced reliability, high overload capacity due to low heating and vibration levels, lack of shaft oil seals, fans and gas coolers built in the stator.
Rooppur NPP equipped with two VVER-1200 reactors of the total 2,400 MW capacity is being constructed under the Russian design160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in accordance with General Contract dated December 25, 2015.
The nuclear power plant will consist of 2 VVER-1200 reactor power units, their the life cycle is expected to be 60 years with a possible extension of the service life for another 20 years
