Rosatom files an application for the participation in selection the investor for the Belene NPP

Sofia, August 20 - Neftegaz.RU. Rosatom files an application for the participation in the procedure for selection a strategic investor for the Belene nuclear power plant construction.

Under the procedure for selection of a strategic investor for Belene NPP project (Bulgaria), announced on May 22, Rosatom filed an application for the participation in the procedure in a timely manner. The application was accepted by the Bulgarian National Electric Company (NEK EAD).

The procedure for selection of a strategic investor for the Belene NPP project was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on May 22, 2019. The procedure is scheduled for completion 12 months after the date of publication.

Last week Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said that she does not think there would be a reaction from the European Commission if Rosatom wins the project. She added: "It is important for us to succeed in realizing our idea for the implementation of the Belene NPP project, because it will be necessary in terms of the Bulgaria's energy security in the coming years".
