Moscow, June 26 - Neftegaz.RU. ROSATOM and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy.

On the Russian side, the document signed Rosatom Deputy Director General – Director of International Affairs Department Nikolay Spassky, and on the Rwandan side - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda to the Russia Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya.

The Memorandum is the 1st document in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy signed between the 2 countries.

The document establishes legal basis for the implementation of bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the development of nuclear infrastructure in Rwanda and the development of programs aimed at raising awareness of nuclear technologies and their applications, as well as the use of radioisotopes and radiation technologies in manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare.

The parties will create joint working groups to identify specific projects within cooperation. Preparation of the framework Intergovernmental Agreement between Russia and Rwanda is expected to be the next step.
