The gold production of the Russian federation has increased, comparing with 2008, more than 11.2% to 205.2 tones last year according to the Russian Gold Industrialists union. This is the main result of the opening of several new production fields, especially in the Chukotka area and the Krasnoyarsk region which was the biggest gold production place last year in Russia. Other top gold-producing regions are Yakuta, Irkutsk, Amur and the Russian Far East.
The Russian federation has the tenth largest gold reserve in the world. In 2009 the central bank of Russia was in charge of the country’ s 625.2 tons of gold, which are evaluated to the amount of 20.85 billion $.
