CNOOC to construct the world's largest LNG storage tanks at the China´s Binhai LNG terminal

China has overtaken Japan as the world's largest LNG importer. Last year, Chinese LNG imports were 78.93mn mt, up 18.3% yr/yr.

Beijing, February 22 - Neftegaz.RU. CNOOC has started to build the largest of their kind in the world LNG storage tanks in Yancheng Binhai Port Industrial Park in east China's Jiangsu Province.
The company said that the cost of the expansion would be around $955 million.

The project's 10 LNG storage tanks will see the 1st 4 boast a total designed capacity of 220 000 m3 and the remaining 6 will have a total designed storage capacity of 270 000 m3.
Upon completion, each storage tank will be 60 m high.

After being put into operation at the end of 2023, the annual processing capacity of the LNG receiving terminal can reach 6 million ton

Li Feng, general manager of the project, introduced that Binhai LNG Terminal is capable of receiving, storing and externally transmitting LNG as well as utilizing cold energy, generating power and manufacturing hydrogen with natural gas.
Li said:

As a key part of China's plan for gas production, supply, storage, marketing and connectivity system, the project will be put into operation in December 2023 with an annual LNG processing capacity of 5.44 million tonnes, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 17.07 million tonnes and nitrogen oxides by 302,999 tonnes.
