Norway: Strike Covers Six More Airports

From Tuesday morning, six additional airports, including Stavanger airport Sola, were closed due to the airport strike. An estimated 31,000 passengers were affected on Tuesday.

The airports at Stavanger, Alta, Leknes, Sandnessjoen, Sogndal and Svolvaer were closed from Tuesday morning.

Bergen airport Flesland, Harstad/Narvik airport Evenes, Molde airport, Mo i Rana airport and Mosjшen airport were closed last Friday after arbritation between Avinor and the unions failed.

At midnight Saturday Kristiansund airport was added to the list.

There has been no contact between Avinor and the union after negotiations did not lead to a solution during the night of May 16.
In addition to the ordinary passenger traffic, the transport of workers to the oil installations has also been severely affected.

Although the Oslo Airport Gardermoen has not been hit by the strike so far, several flights have been cancelled, due to the fact that so many other airports are closed.

The airlines ask passengers to stay in close contact and say attempts will be made to bring passengers by bus or train from the closed airports to the nearest open one.
