BP Pays $319m Penalty

BP is facing a $319m lawsuit in California polluting the environment.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District accuses the company of repeatedly breaking rules on storage tanks over an eight-year period. Also the company failed to control emissions from its tanks.

Two years ago company?s carelessness led to complaints of headaches and nausea from pupils at nearby schools and the evacuation of some classrooms two years ago.

A detailed 106-page suit, listing thousands of other leaks, also charges the company with submitting false reports to the regulators.
