White Sea Diamonds to be Mined
Alrosa steps up exploration and development...
In 2004 ALROSA will invest $ 55.5 million for the development of the Lomonosovskoye diamond mine near Arkhangelsk. In 2003 this figure made up only $23 million.
The first coastal diamonds will be mined in the second half of November this year.
The company is making humanitarian contributions to the region as well. 225 million RUR were allotted to Arkhangelsk region for social needs. In addition, ALROSA intends to allot 20 million RUR more to overhaul the local drama theater.
