Shell Alleges Sabotage in Spillage

Oil spillage involving four flow stations belonging to Shell in Aghoro Community Nigeria has led to the shutting down of Shell's 420,000 barrels per day production facility.

The shutting down of the flow stations at Tunu, Ogbotobo, Opukushi and Benisede was to ensure that the spillage, which was put at 1,500 barrels, was contained.

A visit of joint investigation teams to the scene of the spill discovered that the pipeline was drilled by saboteurs where crude was siphoned before the spillage.

The shutting down of the flow stations is to enable Shell to carry out repairs on the pipeline and to ensure that further spillages are prevented.
