The scheme provides for LNG tanks to be set into a hillside, providing protection for a nearby village. But district councilors want more assurances, even though the local council has already given hazardous substance permits to Exxon/QP and to a separate LNG project proposed by Petroplus, which is not regulated by the park.

Due to safety fears, plans by Exxon Mobil and Qatar Petroleum (QP) to build the world's largest LNG import terminal at Milford Haven in the UK have been delayed.
According to sources, Pembrokeshire National Park, one of two authorities that gave overall planning consent to the terminal last October, will not issue the necessary hazardous substance permit before the next planning committee meeting on March 17th. The decision has already been deferred twice because fire, safety and port authorities failed to provide the park authority with necessary reports until this month.
