A new company to export LNG from Russia to the USA...
A new company to export LNG from Russia to the USA will be set up by the end of the year, according to Gazprom deputy chairman Aleksandr Ryazanov.
Mr. Ryazanov noted that Gazprom is currently holding relevant consultations with such Western companies as Shell, British Petroleum and Conoco Philips. "The project is quite ambitious and expensive, it needs serious political support," Ryazanov said.
The chairman believes serious practical moves will have been made by the end of the year.
"It is necessary to set up a new company, to reach an agreement with its future shareholders and their governments, because this project has to be set up on a production-sharing basis," Ryazanov said.
"The US gas market is very promising; demand for fuel will grow there every year and the prices are very good," Ryazanov noted. He emphasized that he considers the Shtokmanovskoye deposit as the most acceptable for the future project. It could yield up to 90bn cu. m. of gas per year. In addition, "a facility to process liquefied natural gas could be built in Murmansk, from where the fuel would be exported to the USA," Ryazanov believes.
