The US Defense Department has awarded two new contracts to a Kuwaiti and a Jordanian company to supply fuel products to Iraqi civilians and picked the Kuwaiti company Altanmia for a trucking contract to ship the fuel into the country.
This is the second round of contracts to be announced by the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) to replace the ones held by Halliburton.
Kuwait Petroleum Corp. was awarded a $79.9 million contract for gasoline and diesel fuel for the country of Iraq on March 15. Work also will be performed at the Subhan and Ahmadi fuel depots.
Shaheen Business and Investment Group of Amman, Jordan, was also awarded a $71.8 million contract for gasoline and diesel fuel for the country of Iraq.
Finally, Altanmia Commercial Marketing was awarded a $39.9 million contract for transport of gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel for Iraq.
