South Korea's LG International Corp. announced it had secured a $150 million order to build a refinery plant from SNP PETROM S.A. in Romania in a consortium with SK Engineering & Construction Co.
The plant, which will be completed at Pitesti near Bucharest, Romania's capital, in 21 months starting from April, would be designed to desulfurize 24,000 barrels a day, said the trading arm of LG Group, the second-largest conglomerate in South Korea, said.
It is the first time for a domestic company to construct a refinery plant in Romania, the company said.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will support the plant construction.
