Russian oil giant YUKOS, trying to avoid bankruptcy, is said to offer the Russian government $7.5 billion in taxes during three years.
The government seems to reject the offer, as it did with many others earlier: on Friday Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said they weren?t going to extend the YUKOS? case, and that the company had sufficient assets to cover the tab.
Khodorkovsky, who has offered 44 per cent of YUKOS shares he controls to the government last week, has his trial resuming today.
The hearing is expected to end in an adjournment and observers believe the case will drag on for months.
