Canada Ex-prime Minister To Help Yukos

The former prime minister of Canada Jean Chretien expressed his will to solve tax problems of Russai?s oil giant Yukos. The shareholder of Menatep Group with their managing director Tim Osbourne said they welcomed his efforts, Russian radio station ?Ekho Moskvy? reports.


Osbourne said that Chretien is the best person to settle Yukos case. If his efforts don?t be successful, Menatep will assume all possible measures to prevent from forcible sale of Yukos assets.

A partner of Heenan Blaikie, the company, where Chretien is working now, said that he didn?t know anything about the affair.


Jean Chretien?s taking part in Yukos fate is connected with the activity of International Advisory Board, (IAB) of Group MENATEP, which was founded in April, 2003 in Washington.

Chretien is not a member of IAB, but, nevertheless, on the negotiations he acts normally as IAB representative.
