US oil and gas service company Halliburton says an internal probe turned up evidence that the company-headed consortium attempted to bribe Nigerian officials to win a $4 billion energy contract.
Halliburton says documents prove that the $180 million in payments was discussed ten years ago, which was prior to it acquiring Dresser Industries. Dresser's subsidiary M.W. Kellogg was part of the four-partner consortium that was awarded the business in 1995, known as the TSKJ Nigerian Bonny Island project.
