Exxon Mobil officials announced it has cancelled its plan for a LNG terminal development on Mobile Bay after a $1.75 million investment and an excessive safety criticism.
In a statement, Exxon Mobil said it has made progress on several other LNG terminal sites and it's no longer in its business interests to maintain the Mobile site by extending its option.
The company?s officials have said the company was on a tight schedule to build Gulf Coast LNG terminals.
LNG safety became a volatile issue as residents living near the Hollingers Island project filed a lawsuit to stop it. The suit was dismissed, but the issue remained an election-year issue for candidates
