General Director of Mexican state-run oil company Pemex Raul Munoz Leos was forced to resign
General Director of Mexican state-run oil company Pemex Raul Munoz Leos was forced to resign Monday on corruption scandals.
Presidential spokesman Agustin Gutierrez said that Pemex?s exploration and production head Luis Ramirez will replace Munoz Leos.
The Reforma newspaper reported that Munoz Leos, former president and general manager of Dupont Mexico, was angry that President Vicente Fox's cabinet members had not fully supported him.
The newspaper also said he used the company's money to pay for his wife's plastic surgery. The 65-year old man was a chemistry engineer before he was appointed by Fox in December 2000.
Pemex is the fifth largest oil company in the world with daily output of 3.37 million barrels of oil and 12.7 million cubic meters of natural gas in 2003.
