Yukos Will Ask Shareholders

Russian beleaguered oil major Yukos is going to ask shareholders in December to vote on whether or not the Company should file for bankruptcy.

Yukos? CEO Steven Theede said that the company?s officials will meet on 20 December where investors will be asked to decide the future of the firm.
Yukos has faced a fresh tax bill of as much as $17 billion this week and has been fighting to keep key assets.

Theede said, "We cannot continue like this for much longer. The situation we find ourselves in today is not sustainable."

According to analysts, filing for bankruptcy is a "last chance" action.
